Meeting to Focus on Fracking and Agriculture

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Community Action Forum on Marcellus Shale Gas will hold a community meeting 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Southern Market in Lancaster.

The meeting will focus on the impact of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) on farms, waterways and the environment in general.

Presenters will be Ron Gulla, who will talk about the effect of drilling on his farm in Hickory, Pa.; Terry Greenwood, a Washington County farmer who lost calves after gas wells were drilled near his property; Kathy Martin, an environmental specialist in hydraulic fracturing issues; and state Rep. Eugene DePasquale of York County, who is also a former deputy secretary in the Department of Environmental Protection.
