‘Hali’ Cow: Jersey Wins Dairy Supreme

HARRISBURG, Pa. — More than six hours after the start of the show featuring some 300 animals, Reich-Dale Counciller Hali, a Jersey owned by Kristin Mull of Chambersburg, was selected as the supreme champion last week at the Pennsylvania Farm Show dairy show.
“I was happy just to get grand (champion) of my breed,” said Mull after the announcement. She didn’t expect her cow to be selected as the supreme champion.
Other achievements by Mull and her champion cow include winning reserve senior champion at the Premier Junior Jersey Show at the All-American here in September. Hali was also a Farm Show class winner last year.
Earning honorable mention at the show last week was a 5-year old Guernsey, Sniders Dollars Adeline, owned by Aaron Gable of New Enterprise.
Other breed champions included Ayrshire, Dream Nol Nolan Sara, exhibited by Sharon Nolan, Cochranville; Brown Swiss, AJK Jetways Lucky Clover, exhibited by Abbie Kuhlman, Rome; Holstein, Luck-E Kartoon, exhibited by Jason Kline, Lebanon; Milking Shorthorn, Hard Core O’Royce, exhibited by Keith Fisher, New Enterprise; and Red and White, Spun Gold MVU Lakeside-Red, exhibited by Deana Bendig, Gettysburg.
Youth champions were Ayrshire, Bonnie Brae Colleen, owned by Miranda Hernley, Lebanon; Brown Swiss, Mapes Prestige Mandy, owned by James Mapes, Mifflinburg; Guernsey, Rocky Hill Magicman Sonador, owned by Tom McCarty, Hughesville; Holstein, Elk-Lick Deuc Chana, owned by Ashley Stoltzfus, Berlin; Jersey, EDN-RU Rocket Jems Jewel, owned by Mary Metz, Centre Hall; Milking Shorthorn, Joy-el Logic Tippy, owned by Carlyn Crowl, Delta; and Red and White, MSJ Lynn Lynsey Red-ET, owned by Zach Klinger, Orangeville.
The judges for the show were Sean Johnson of Glenville, York County; William Schnebley of Clear Spring, Md., and Chip Savage of Knoxville, Md.
