Clara Bell Sweeps International Guernsey Show

MADISON, Wis. — Starting out in 4-H and ending at the World Dairy Expo’s 2013 International Open Guernsey Show Oct. 4, Cara and Lauren Woloohojian of Rhode Island swept the competition with Wee Acres Spider Clara Bell.

This grand belle walked away with the Udder Comfort $1,000 Grand Champion Cash Award, as well as a plethora of other honors. Clara Bell swept the Guernsey show, taking grand and senior champion titles of both the junior and open shows along with the Total Performance Cow Award.

Millborne Hillpoint S Fiesta-ET, owned and exhibited by P. Morey Miller, Mike Hellenbrand and Peter Vail of Granby, Conn., took reserve grand champion female in the open show. Fiesta was also the winning 2-year-old, as well as the winner of the Fight Bac Guernsey Gold Futurity.

The premier breeder and premier exhibitor honors in the Guernsey breed were awarded to Austin and Landen Knapp of Epworth, Iowa. This year’s premier sire is Sniders Option Aaron-ET.

Judge Gary Estes of Rogersfield, Mo., judged 217 animals, 66 of which were juniors, with the help of associate Bob Griggs of Seminole, Okla.
