BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — A Biloxi company has a contract to provide up to $30 million worth of fresh fruit and vegetables to military customers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture School in Mississippi.
The Pentagon said in a news release Thursday that the contract with Gulf Coast Produce Distributors Inc. runs through Sept. 27, 2014, and includes the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps as well as the USDA school.
The contract is with Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support in Philadelphia, Pa.
The company's website says it has operated since 1995 and buys local produce when it's available, but also orders throughout the United States and abroad.
