Pennwood Farm Tops in Somerset B&W Show

Pennwood Farm and the Stoltzfus family of Berlin, Pa, were big winners at the Somerset County Black and White Show, held July 3 in Meyersdale, Pa. Garrett Mase served as the judge for the event.

Ashley Stoltzfus won grand champion in the open show with her 5-year-old cow, Pennwood Troy Kalahari, and Collin Stoltzfus won reserve grand in the open show with his junior 3-year-old, Pennwood Goldwyn Rockette.

That animal was also grand champion in the youth division, followed by Elizabeth Stoltzfus winning reserve grand in the youth division with her junior 2-year-old, Pennwood Goldwyn Tobasco.

Junior champion in the open show was Allen and Gloria Kaufman’s summer yearling, All-Glo Dusk Lisha. Elizabeth Stoltzfus had reserve junior champion with her summer yearling, Hillmont Seaver Trixy. She was also junior champion in the youth division, followed by Evan Hillegass and his winter yearling, St. Jacobs Destry Altha.

Best bred and owned in the open show went to Ashley Stoltzfus. Elizabeth Stoltzfus won the best bred and owned award in the junior show, which is sponsored by Hillmont Farms in memory of Alec Hillegass.

Premier breeder and premier exhibitor banners went to Pennwood Farms, while Sam McWilliams of Somerset was named premier breeder and premier exhibitor of the youth show.
