Montgomery County 4-H Sale Brings in $50,490

The 4-H Market Animal Sale in Montgomery County was held Saturday, Aug. 10, during the final day of the Montgomery County 4-H Fair.

Seventy-nine lots were sold to 46 buyers, generating $50,490, all of which went directly to the 4-H youth who raise the market projects to help them pay for expenses related to their project animals and to save for college.

The Pat McGinnis Fund, which assists 4-H members who lost animals or have financial hardships, generated more than $2,000 through animals and other items purchased and donated back by the buyer to be resold.

A basket of dairy products from the supreme champion dairy cow exhibited by Abby Sterner of Barto, Pa., was purchased by Freddy Hill Farms.

The grand champion dairy beef, also exhibited by Sterner, was purchased by Black’s Livestock. The reserve grand champion dairy beef exhibited by Ethan Sterner of Barto was bought by McMahon Family Angus.

The grand champion market steer exhibited by Allyson Wampler of Rockledge was bought by McMahon Family Angus. The reserve grand champion market steer exhibited by Lindsay Rodgers of East Greenville was bought be JBS Souderton.

The grand champion market hog exhibited by Kaylie Niehls of Barto was bought by Quakertown Veterinary Clinic. The reserve grand champion market hog exhibited by Jeremiah Niehls of Barto was bought by Leidy’s Inc.

The grand champion pair of market hogs exhibited by Mary Niehls of Barto was bought by Cedar Lane Farm and Leidy’s Inc. The reserve grand champion pair of market hogs exhibited by Kaylie Niehls of Barto was bought by Springfield Meat Co.

The grand champion market goat exhibited by Abby Sterner of Barto was bought by Oley Valley Feeds. The reserve grand champion market goat exhibited by Ethan Sterner of Barto was bought by Black’s Livestock.

The grand champion market lamb exhibited by Amanda Rees of Pottstown was bought by Quakertown Veterinary Clinic. The reserve grand champion market lamb exhibited by Tayler Garges of Telford was bought by Marcho Farms Inc.

A basket of dairy products from the best doe in show exhibited by Kender Kerr of Plymouth Meeting was bought by Garges & Son Welding.

The grand champion pen of three broilers exhibited by Will Tornambe of Cedars was bought by Montgomery County Farm Bureau. The reserve grand champion pen of three broilers exhibited by Renae Knechel of Harleysville was bought by Knechel Demolition and Excavating.

The grand champion pen of laying hens exhibited by Katie Broderick of Lansdale was bought by Spring Valley Dairy. The reserve grand champion pen of laying hens exhibited by Caitlyn Longazel, of Woxall was bought by Harleysville Savings Bank.

The grand champion rabbit meat pen exhibited by Danielle Barbacow of East Greenville was bought by Bandits Public House and Inn. The reserve grand champion rabbit meat pen exhibited by Mariellen Kehler of Barto was bought by Cedar Lane Farm.

The grand champion dozen of eggs exhibited by Katie Broderick of Lansdale was bought by Black’s Next Pasture. The Reserve grand champion dozen of eggs exhibited by Branden Long of Harleysville was bought by Cedar Lane Farm.
