FAIR OAKS, Ind. (AP) — The nation's largest agritourism facility is tapping into the power of pigs.
Fair Oaks Farms in northwestern Indiana is using pig manure to power buses covered in photos of pink piglets. The buses take visitors to a 110,000-square-foot building that serves as the farm's new Pig Adventure.
The Times reports (http://bit.ly/12YAGNI ) tourists can learn about pig farming and observe the farm's operations from behind glass walls. They also can watch a video about the Pig Adventure and take a virtual shower before entering the gestation barn.
The Pig Adventure follows Fair Oaks' success with the Dairy Adventure. Intern Leah Lentini says the farm hopes to add chickens, beef, aquaculture and crops to its agritourism mix in the next 10 years.
