DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — The family of a Northern California man who was lost in the wilderness for more than a week says he survived on runoff and pine nuts.

The Davis Enterprise reports (http://bit.ly/Zjj90B) that 25-year-old Daniel Thompson of Davis turned up around a campground in Lake County on Sunday.

His father, Brian Thompson, says he had been missing since April 13 after leaving on a camping trip.

He lost control of his car and went off a road in a rural area northwest of Clear Lake. With no cellphone reception, he wandered the wilderness searching for help, surviving on pine nuts and runoff.

Brian Thompson says his son grew up learning about edible plants, and pine nuts were among his favorite.
