Penn State Extension and Cover Crop Solutions LLC will hold a field tour 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, May 22, on the Steve Groff Farm, 535 Drytown Road, Holtwood, Pa.
The Groff farm is well-known for innovative soil health, no-till and cover crop research. This year, it is working with Penn State Extension and has established wheat variety and mixed cultivar plots to study disease and insect management and overall production with a goal of reducing dependency on fungicides.
John Tooker, Penn State Extension entomologist, will lead a tour of his research and discuss general insect and disease management in small grains.
Also on tap is a tour and discussion with Steve Groff, partner of Cover Crop Solutions, on slug management, nontraditional cover crops, the benefits of multiple species and spring management.
Reservations are not required, and there is no charge for the tour.
