Penn State Extension, through a National Fish and Wildlife Grant, will hold a Riparian Buffer Maintenance Workshop 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, July 24, at 676 N. Hertzler Road, Elizabethtown, Pa., where retired farmer John Hertzler has established 14 acres of riparian buffer and several additional acres of upland plantings.

The workshop will cover information on the importance of buffers, riparian buffer cost-share programs, steps for maintenance and how to ensure success in the long term.

Attendees will get to explore the riparian buffer on site and have interactive discussions. The workshop is free but space is limited.
