Pastured Pork Day Set for April 27

SUNBURY, Pa. — On Saturday, April 27, three pastured pork producers and a livestock nutritionist will talk about the day-to-day realities and challenges of raising pigs outdoors at a workshop at Owens Farm in Sunbury.

Topics will include feeding, grazing, rooting of pastures, fencing, catching escapees, transportation, shelter, winter management, breed considerations, health and safe handling.

Presenters will include Jeff Mattocks of Fertrell Co., John and Todd Hopkins of Forks Farm in Orangeville, Nolan Thenevet from Stryker Farm in Saylorsburg, and hosts Caroline and David Owens.
