HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Center for Dairy Excellence, Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association are offering grants for farms and students to participate in a 10- to 12-week on-farm internship program.

Both farms and students are encouraged to apply for funding to offset the cost of the internship.

Prospective interns must be majoring in animal science or a related agriculture field and either currently enrolled in a Pennsylvania university or a Pennsylvania resident attending an out-of-state university or affiliated with a PDMP member farm.

Participating farms may be within or outside Pennsylvania. Producers must provide the intern with exposure to all aspects of a successful, progressive dairy operation.

Intern applicants will be matched with interested farms by a committee of individuals representing the three organizations. Applications are due by Jan. 25. Those accepted will be notified by Feb. 1 with further details.

For more information, guidelines and online applications, go to www.centerfordairyexcellence.org, click on “Producer,” then on “Participate in On-farm Internship,” or contact Emily Yeiser, dairy initiatives manager at the center, at 717-346-0849 or eyeiser<\@>centerfordairyexcellence.org.
