Extension Livestock Team to Offer Cattle Feeders Seminar

The Penn State Extension Livestock Team will hold its first Western Pennsylvania Cattle Feeders Seminar on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Westmoreland County Extension office, Greensburg, Pa.

Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the program at 6:30.

Robbi Pritchard, professor of animal science at South Dakota State University will speak on “Bunk Management & Methods of Improving Feed Efficiency,” and Larry Rose, who works in cattle procurement for JBS, USA, will talk about “Cattle Feeding Opportunities in Pennsylvania.”

Industry updates will be provided by the Pennsylvania Beef Council and Ann Nogan of the Center for Beef Excellence.

Deb VanObeke, associate professor of meat science at Oklahoma State University, will provide “A Review of the 2011 Beef Quality Audit and Its Implications for Cattle Feeders.”
