Cumberland County Farm Tours Set for Oct. 5

Penn State Extension and Ag Partners have announced that the Experience Cumberland County Agriculture Farm Tours will be held Saturday, Oct. 5. A kickoff and welcome ceremony will start at 9 a.m. at Stover’s Dairy Farm on Horners Road in Carlisle.

The free, self-guided tours will run 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Five local farms are showcased in this family-friendly event: Stover’s Dairy Farm, Paulus Orchards, Dickinson College Farm, Lil Ponderosa Beef Farm, and Venture Valley Goat and Sheep Farm.

Producers will showcase their production systems, show visitors their animals and produce, and teach about the ways they care for the land, animals and environment.

Experts will be on hand to answer questions about agriculture, and local organizations are invited to share their knowledge of the diverse industry. Youth organizations will provide activities and information for children and adults alike.
