Calf Sale to Benefit Junior Holstein Club

7/13/2013 7:00 AM

On Friday, July 19, the Berks County Junior Holstein Club will be selling a calf as a fundraiser at the annual Berks County Holstein Club picnic at Meck Brothers Dairy in Womelsdorf, Pa.

The picnic starts at 6:30 p.m. with the meal followed by a dairy cattle judging contest and then the auctioning of Reu-Hel Alexander Ozip.

All proceeds from this calf sale will benefit the club to help cover expenses for production awards and participation at future Pennsylvania Junior Holstein conventions.

Scott and Connie Troutman of Mohrsville, Pa., donated the calf, which was born Nov. 19, 2012. It was sired by Golden-Oaks ST Alexander-ET and is out of the Troutmans’ favorite O’ family, which has seen much success in the show ring on the county level.

Do the deer cause a lot of damage to the fruit and vegetable crops in your area?
