Business Planning Series Offered for Vegetable Growers

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Penn State Extension will hold a series of educational sessions this fall at the Lehigh County Agricultural Center in Allentown to help vegetable growers become better business planners.

The series will start with participants’ profit goals, focus in on markets and production techniques and include the creation of weed management and farm plans. Homework activities will help lead participants through the process.

The series will be held 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 24, Oct. 22, Oct. 30 and Nov. 13.

Cost is $75, reduced from $420 with funding from Northampton and Lehigh counties. The cost includes two books, a CD and a notebook. Participants are required to have taken Introduction to Organic Vegetable Production or to have a year of farming experience or other equivalent experience.
