Bloomsburg 4-H Livestock Sale Brings in Nearly $125,000

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Bloomsburg Fair Livestock Sale on Sept. 27 netted more than $124,985 in proceeds for 4-H’ers and FFA members selling their animals.

Jessi Reichenbach of Buckhorn sold her champion market steer for $2,500 to Den-Ann Farm Club Calves, Lewisburg. The reserve grand champion owned by Hannah Imgrund of Lewisburg was sold to Southern States for $2,400. The average price for steers was $2,103.

The champion dairy beef was sold to Risser Grain LLC of Holtwood for $850 by Emily Dingle. The reserve grand champion dairy beef was sold to Deerview Homes/Richard Umstead of Unityville for $750 by Abigail Stroup. The average price for dairy beef was $701 a head.

Nolan Schrock of Jerseytown sold his grand champion meat rabbits for $275 to U&U Modular Homes/Richard Umstead of Unityville. The reserve grand champion meat rabbits owned by Olivia Arnold were sold for $450 to Lauver & Longacre Auctioneering and Middleburg Auction. The average price per pen for meat rabbits was $221.

The champion goat shown by Emily Dingle of Catawissa sold for $600 to U&U Modular Homes/Richard Umstead of Unityville. The reserve grand champion goat shown by Andrew Kiess of Jersey Shore sold for $1,250 to Cricket’s Hollow Farm of Catawissa. The average price for goats was $280.

The grand champion lamb was sold to Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Homes for $1,500 by Delaney Carey of Montoursville. The reserve grand champion lamb owned by Brynlin Carey of Montoursville was sold for $1,400 to the Clover Club of Montoursville. The average price for lambs was $365.

Jillian Marks of Catawissa sold her grand champion swine for $2,700 to Hoober Inc., Richards Scattered Acres Farm, Perkins Family Restaurant, Quaker Steak and Lube, and Mainville Ag Services. The reserve grand champion owned by Dennis Boop Jr. went for $1,500 to Gross’s French Fries, Packer’s Concessions and B&K Construction. The average price for hogs was $428 per head.
